Sparks, Skills, and Quality: What went down at our 2026 Welder Showdown

As part of our 2026 Quality Month, we just wrapped up the 6th event of the series—the Welder Skills Competition. It wasn’t just for show; we really wanted to see what our team is made of when the heat is on (literally).

It’s more than a contest—it’s about the “Real Deal” quality

We’ve always said that quality is the backbone of Henan Mine, but talk is cheap. This competition was a way to put our standards to the test. It gives our team a chance to show off their craftsmanship while making sure every crane we ship out is built to last. It’s basically a reality check for our production line, and honestly, the results were impressive.

Where the magic happens: Theory meets the torch

The competition was split into two parts. First, we hit the books with a theory exam to make sure everyone knows the “why” behind the weld. Then, things got intense on the shop floor.

Watching these guys work is something else—the focus is incredible. They had to pull off everything from standard flat welding to those tricky overhead welds that require a super steady hand. You could really see that “Artisan Spirit” in action with every spark that flew.

The “Girl Power” on the factory floor was no joke

One of the best parts of the day was seeing our female welders absolutely killing it. They stepped up to the plate and showed everyone that precision and strength aren’t just for the guys. Their work was clean, precise, and a huge reminder of why they’re such a vital part of our success here.

Keeping it fair: How we picked the winners

We take the “fair and square” part seriously. We put together a judging panel of the “big guns” from our Process and Quality Assurance departments. Even the Women’s Federation was there to keep an eye on things and ensure everything was transparent.

We didn’t just look at the competition scores, either. We’re factoring in their daily performance and overall work ethic. We want to find the real MVPs who set the bar for the rest of the team.

Wrapping it up: Why we do this

At the end of the day, these events aren’t just about trophies. They’re about leveling up our skills so we can keep pushing the boundaries of what high-quality manufacturing looks like. When our team gets better, our products get better—it’s as simple as that.
